PEMF vs. Orgonite: Two Different Ideas of “Frequency,” Explained Honestly

The real Resonator device (matching the actual product photo) glowing warmly with visible electromagnetic field lines pulsing outward, positioned beside a separate piece of orgonite (a resin-and-crystal pyramid embedded with metal shavings) glowing with a softer inner light, the two objects clearly distinct, contrasting two different ideas of frequency, set against a dark cosmic background

We’ve now written five posts under a “PEMF Science” heading and half a dozen more about orgonite, biofields, and the aura. It’s worth stopping to draw the line between them clearly in one place, because we think conflating the two — which the wider wellness industry does constantly — does a disservice to both.

PEMF, in one sentence

PEMF is an active, powered technology: an electrical current runs through a coil to generate a real, measurable, pulsed electromagnetic field, with decades of peer-reviewed research behind specific uses like non-union bone fracture healing (FDA-cleared since 1979), and a reasonable evidence base for pain and inflammation.

Orgonite, in one sentence

Orgonite is a passive, unpowered material: metal shavings, quartz, and resin cast together, built on Wilhelm Reich’s mid-century orgone theory, which mainstream science has never validated. It doesn’t generate a measurable electromagnetic field on its own. Its case rests on the piezoelectric properties of quartz and on a long tradition of curiosity, not on clinical trials.

Where our own products sit — precisely

This is where we want to be exact rather than hand-wavy, because it’s easy to blur this and we don’t want to:

Aura Pendants are passive orgonite pieces. They work the way we’ve described in our orgonite posts — no electricity, no active signal, built on the materials and geometry we believe in.

Resonators and Copper Pyramids are a hybrid. On their own — placed in a room or worn as a pendant — they’re a passive object, same as our other pieces, built around a toroidal (sacred-geometry) copper coil with piezoelectric and other crystals embedded in the coil matrix. Connect that same coil to an external amplifier and a frequency-generator app, though, and it becomes something closer to a consumer PEMF setup: an active, pulsed electromagnetic signal at whatever frequency you choose, typically in the 1–10 Hz range we recommend.

What that hybrid design is, and isn’t

It is: a real, active electromagnetic signal, running on the same underlying physics as clinical PEMF, combined with a crystal-embedded coil design of our own.

It is not: an FDA-cleared medical device, dosed to the specific parameters used in the bone-healing or osteoarthritis studies, or independently clinically tested in the form we sell it. The crystal matrix is our own design choice, not something the PEMF literature has studied directly.

We think that’s an important, honest distinction, and one the broader PEMF and energy-healing industries don’t always bother making. A device can be built on real physics without every claim about it being clinically proven — and we’d rather you know exactly which parts of our story fall into which category.
